Head south on SH1 this morning firstly through the Canterbury Plains then pass through the rural coastal towns of Ashburton, Timaru and then into Oamaru, which is homne to magnificent Victorian Heritage buildings. Continue south over the rolling hills of Otago before arriving into Dunedin, known as the Edinburgh of the South with rich Scottish History and lively student population.

An early start to get into Milford Sound to meet the 11am launch for a cruise the length of Milford Sound out to the edge of the Tasman Sea, cruise beside the magnificient Mitre Peak and get up close to Lady Bowen Falls on your return to Milford Wharf. After your cruise a very scenic drive through to Queenstown or Wanaka.

This morning we suggest taking a glacier helicopter flight to land up high on the top of the glacier for views of Mt Coook and out to the Tasman Sea before continuing your journey along the West Coast through the township of Franz Josef onto Greymouth where you return your Budget car at the train station. Join the world famous Tranz Alpine train journey this afternoon for a very diverse train journey to Christchurch through the heart of the Southern Alps.
