AIRSHOW HISTORY
In 1988 aviation entrepreneur Sir Tim Wallis presented an airshow and country fair that attracted 14,000 visitors to Wanaka Airport. Delighted with this success, he decided to expand on the theme and hold a biennial event over the long Easter weekend. As the show grew so did its support and now almost 100,000 people make the pilgrimage to Wanaka for their weekend of excitement. Now acclaimed as the largest warbird airshow in the southern hemisphere, this is the one event of 2008 not to be missed.

AIRCRAFT
Over 50 aircraft will attend Warbirds over Wanaka International Airshow. You will see some of the most famous Warbirds that helped defend the freedom during World War I, the heroes of World War II, the fighters of Korea and the awesome jets of Vietnam all flown in exciting scenarios that recreate history right before your eyes. Participation by aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force completes the scene. Feel the heat from the huge fireballs and the concussion of explosions as a pyrotechnics display to rival the best action movie combines with military vehicles and tanks.

The Airshow commences on Friday 2 April 2010 with a world aviation trade expo and market open to the public. From plastic kits to full-size aircraft, over 60 trade sites will tempt you with a full range of products. Official merchandise is available from the several locations. Overhead aircraft practice for the forthcoming weekend show.
AIRSHOW GOLD PASS
For those wanting the ultimate in Airshow luxury a ticket to the Gold Pass Enclosure is essential. Situated on the flightline at show centre with bucket grandstand seating, elevated above ground for unobstructed viewing of the entire show. “The Gold Club” marquee offers its own facilities and big screen televisions in the restaurant, which beam the live action as it happens. You can relax in comfort and watch the show from the best seats in the house.
Gold Pass ticket numbers are limited and must be purchased in advance. All of Kirra Tours Warbirds touring holidays include this exclusive Gold Pass and we hold an allocation for self drive packages to the event.
GETTING THERE
Air New Zealand provides regular services to Queenstown from all the major cities and International Gateways around New Zealand. You can travel by car from Queenstown to Wanaka in just over an hour and from Christchurch in about 5 hours. Intercity/Newmans offer scheduled coach services to and from Wanaka from several locations around New Zealand.

General Pass: This 3 day prepaid admission ticket gives you general entry to the Airshow event for the 3 days of scheduled events.
Silver Pass: A new Silver Pass has been introduced to the 2010 Airshow. The Silver pass will feature un-covered tiered seating further along the runway, with onsite amenities including food and beverage outlets to purchase refreshments within the enclosure.
Gold Pass: The 3 Day Gold Pass provides the best seating at the Airshow. Located directly in front of the runway, the bucket seat grandstand is elevated for uninterrupted views of the entire airshow. The "Gold Club", situated behind the grandstand, also offers a huge selection of food and beverages.

Deposit: A deposit of $400 per person is required within 7 days of confirmation of your reservation. If Kirra Tours does not receive this deposit by the due date, reservations may be cancelled without notice.
Final Payment: The balance of monies due must be received by Kirra Tours at least 65 days prior to departure to facilitate timely preparation and delivery of documents.
Cancellations: In the event of cancellation, you agree to pay the following cancellation fees listed below. Travel insurance is strongly recommended and provides protection against most legitimate reasons for cancellation.
